What kind of shows do you do?
I am available for a variety of shows ranging from kid's birthday parties to corporate events. Shows are broken down into four categories: close up, walk-around, parlour and stage. Close up magic is adult oriented and usually requires the magician to stay fixed at a table or booth performing for a small group of people at a time. This type is ideal for commercial venues, trade shows, or intimate soirees. Walk-around magic is again adult oriented as the magician wanders about the room performing magic from group to group. This type of performance is extremely popular for cocktail parties or luncheons. Parlour magic means small stage. These shows are usually performed for a group of fifty or less. Fun and interactive, parlour magic is available for kids and grown ups. This format is ideal for birthday parties, small office parties, or small to mid-sized dinners. Stage magic is the largest of the venues. Such shows are suited for large events and require a stage, sound and lighting. Available for kids and grown ups, stage magic offers mystery and excitement for all.

What about special theme parties?
Themes may be incorporated in a show, based on the theme and the period of notice given. Certain theme shows are already in circulation, such as a Halloween Party or Christmas Party. Our party has a guest of honour, can you include him or her in your act? Absolutely. The magic of Ian Quick is always interactive and therefore ideal to involve anyone you may wish, be it a birthday child, or the president and CEO of a giant corporation. How much ? The amount of money you invest in a show will depend on many factors such as venue, equipment supplied and required, transportation, and so on. To keep it brief however, shows start from $95.00.

How long does a show usually last?
Show lengths vary upon venue. Walk-around magic is done on an hourly rate and can go on for as long as you require. Parlour shows usually last between 25 to 40 minutes. Stage shows are done in sets of 40 minutes and are available for one or two sets. * Special note for kids shows. Children tend to be fascinated by all sorts of things and often shift their attention spans from one place to another. For this reason, experts agree that the ideal length for a kids show is 25 to 30 minutes. If you require a longer period of entertainment, I am glad to offer you many entertaining additions to a magic show (see next question).

I need to entertain children for hours. What else is available?
The magic of Ian Quick is proud to offer all sorts of party entertainment for children. Your child's birthday party can also include clowning, balloon animals, face painting, puppeteering and party games.

I have a two year old. Is magic appropriate for someone so young?
Experts agree that very young children aren't quite capable of understanding magic since they usually don't really know what is possible and what isn't. To them it may seem quite natural to pull a bunny out of a hat and so the effect is lost on them. For this reason, most professional magicians, myself included, will generally not perform for children under the age of four.

How far can you travel for shows?
The magic of Ian Quick is available anywhere worldwide under the right circumstances. Generally speaking, the home base of operations is the Ottawa-Carleton area and close surroundings. Shows are available beyond this area provided that transportation and related expenses are covered.

I was very satisfied with the Magic of Ian Quick. He proved to be professional and thoroughly amusing.
